Accident – Death – Obituary News : An 18-year-old girl from Ventura County found herself in hot water after leading California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers on a high-speed chase spanning multiple counties, culminating in a dramatic crash into a squad car. The incident unfolded late on a Saturday evening, with CHP officers receiving reports of a pursuit entering the Ventura area from Santa Barbara County just before 9 p.m.

Units strategically positioned themselves along the southbound side of the 101 Freeway at Telephone Road in anticipation of intercepting the girl’s 2012 Infiniti G37 sedan. However, the young driver foiled their plans by exiting the freeway at Johnson Drive, throwing authorities off her trail momentarily. Undeterred, she continued her reckless escapade, steering towards Auto Mall Drive before making a fateful turn down a dead-end street.

“[The driver] drove into a private lot which was a dead end,” CHP officials recounted. “As officers attempted to terminate the pursuit, the suspect vehicle made a U-turn and accelerated, striking one of the patrol vehicles.” The ensuing collision left the CHP unit with significant front-end damage, while one officer sustained minor injuries and required transportation to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The teenage culprit, identified as Felicity Michaela Hughes of Camarillo, was promptly apprehended following the crash without further incident. Hughes now faces serious charges of evading police with willful disregard and assault with a deadly weapon, both classified as felony offenses. Subsequently, she was remanded to the Todd Road Jail in Santa Paula, with bail set at $50,000 as per booking records. Her initial court appearance is slated for the upcoming Tuesday.

Individuals possessing any pertinent information concerning the pursuit and subsequent collision are urged to reach out to CHP’s Ventura Area office by dialing 805-662-2640. The authorities are actively seeking cooperation in piecing together the events leading up to the dramatic chase and crash.
