A Versatile Career

Weathers showcased his acting prowess in a variety of films and television series throughout his career. In addition to his memorable portrayal of Apollo Creed in the first four “Rocky” movies, he also starred in the 1987 sci-fi thriller “Predator” and appeared in Adam Sandler’s comedy hit “Happy Gilmore.” Weathers’ talent extended beyond acting, as he lent his voice to the character Combat Carl in “Toy Story 4.”

Stallone, ultimately, hired a lookalike actor for flashback sequences. Nevertheless, the two reconciled, and Weathers later allowed Stallone to use his likeness in the “Creed” sequel series.
