A tragic accident on the Zirakpur-Patiala road in Mohali claimed the life of one youngster and left two others injured when a speeding BMW collided with their motorcycle late at night. The deceased, identified as Sahib, and the injured victims, Sumit and Rajbir, were all from Bhabbat village. The driver of the BMW fled the scene after the collision, and the injured were taken to a private hospital for treatment. While Sumit and Rajbir are stable, Sahib succumbed to his injuries at GMCH-32 in Chandigarh. Mohali: A tragic accident on the Zirakpur-Patiala road late Wednesday night has left one youngster dead and two others injured. The incident involved a speeding BMW colliding with a motorcycle carrying the three victims.
The deceased was identified as Sahib, while the injured are Sumit and Rajbir, all from Bhabbat village. Eyewitnesses reported that the collision took place around 10.45pm as the trio was heading towards Patiala chowk. The BMW, with a Himachal Pradesh registration, crashed into their motorcycle, causing it to collide with a stationary truck. The impact was so intense that all airbags in the BMW deployed upon collision.
The driver of the BMW fled the scene after the accident. Passersby rushed Sumit and Rajbir to a private hospital for treatment. While both are currently stable, Sahib’s injuries were critical, and he was referred to GMCH-32 in Chandigarh, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.
Local authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident. The police are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the driver responsible for this devastating accident.
In a separate incident in Kalka, a pedestrian lost his life after being hit by a bus from the rear while returning home with his wife. Police have registered a case in response to the tragic accident. Sunita Devi, a resident of Parwanoo, Solan district, Himachal Pradesh, recounted that the incident occurred around 9.30pm on Tuesday.
Recent news reports also highlight another tragic bus accident near Phiringia, Odisha, where two individuals lost their lives, and nine others sustained injuries after a bus overturned. Chittaranjan Mahanta, SDM of Phulbani, confirmed the accident, with Ashish Iswar Patil, Collector & DM of Kandhmal, mentioning efforts being made to provide treatment and support to the victims.
