Patna: A tragic incident shook the city of Patna as a promising 22-year-old student leader, Harsh Kumar, was brutally beaten to death by a group of masked men in the parking lot of Patna Law College. The incident took place on Monday when the young student had gone to the college to appear for an exam.
The Incident
The deceased, a final-year student at BN College in Patna, was known for his active participation in student politics and was recently seen campaigning for Shambhavi Choudhary, LJP (RV) nominee from Samastipur LS seat and daughter of Ashok Choudhary, a minister in the Nitish Kumar cabinet. Harsh was a budding student leader with aspirations of contesting the upcoming students’ union elections.
On Monday at 12.45 pm, a group of 7-8 masked attackers cornered Harsh near the college parking area and mercilessly attacked him with rods and bricks. The brutal incident unfolded in broad daylight, and despite several witnesses being present, no one dared to intervene to save the young student, as reported by TOI.
Police Investigation
Harsh was rushed to Patna MCH where doctors pronounced him dead. City SP (east) Bharat Soni stated that the police were still investigating the cause of the murder and working on identifying the assailants. According to initial reports, Harsh had been involved in a confrontation with some Patna University students over an event during Dussehra last year.
City SP (east) Bharat Soni mentioned, “We have initiated an investigation into the matter. The CCTV footage is being scrutinized to identify the culprits and bring them to justice.”
Outcry for Justice
The tragic incident has sparked outrage on social media platforms, with users calling for swift justice for Harsh. Videos of the brutal attack circulated, showing the assailants wearing masks and assaulting the student with sticks and bricks.
