Double Shooting at Birmingham Nightclub Leaves Two Dead

Early in the morning on May 24, a tragic incident unfolded at The Quest nightclub on Birmingham’s Southside, resulting in the loss of two lives. Police rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a possible shootout inside the club located in the 400 block of 24th Street South.

Details of the Incident

Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered two men who had been shot. Despite efforts from both patrons and officers to render aid to the victims, one individual was pronounced dead at the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue. The other victim, identified as 32-year-old Terrance Terrell Brown Jr., was rushed to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Tragically, on Sunday, May 26, an update from the Birmingham Police Department confirmed the passing of the second victim, Shane Gady, also 32-years-old and from Birmingham. Police believe that both men were engaged in a physical altercation before turning their firearms on each other. Two guns were recovered from inside the nightclub as evidence.

History of Violence at The Quest

This recent incident marks the third shooting at The Quest in less than three years. Previous incidents include a shooting involving a Birmingham police officer and a homicide on Labor Day in 2022. Additionally, an officer was involved in a scuffle with an armed patron at the club, according to police reports.
