The Pune Police Arrest Third Individual in Manipulation of Blood Sample Case

In an ongoing investigation into a tragic incident in Pune city, the Pune Police have made another arrest in connection with the alleged manipulation of a blood sample. The incident occurred in the early hours of May 19 in the Kalyani Nagar area of Pune city, where two IT professionals tragically lost their lives after being hit by a speeding Porsche allegedly driven by a minor.

Details of the Arrest

The latest individual arrested in this case has been identified as Atul Ghatkamble, an employee of Sassoon Hospital. This arrest comes after the earlier arrests of Dr Ajay Tawade, head of the forensic lab, and Dr Hari Harnor, both from Pune’s Sasoon General Hospital. These arrests were made in connection with the alleged switching of the blood sample of the accused with another person’s sample.

According to Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, the manipulation of the blood sample was carried out at the direction of a doctor from Sassoon General Hospital. The juvenile’s father allegedly contacted the doctor and offered incentives to replace the blood samples. Following the switch, the hospital report showed no traces of alcohol in the juvenile’s blood.

Further Investigation

The police have taken additional precautions by collecting another sample of the juvenile for DNA sampling, which was sent to another hospital for analysis. The report from the second hospital confirmed that the blood report from Sassoon Hospital had been manipulated, as the DNA did not match the original sample.

Commissioner Kumar mentioned that the doctors involved were unaware that the police had obtained a separate sample of the accused. The investigation is ongoing to determine whose blood samples were used to replace those of the juvenile, with CCTV footage from Sassoon Hospital being reviewed for further evidence.
