Florida: A 25-year-old Indian student from Telangana tragically lost her life in the United States’s Florida on Sunday night after being struck by a speeding car. The incident occurred as she was crossing the road in Florida. The victim, Guntipalli Sowmya, hailed from Yadagiripalle Village in the Yadadri-Bhongir district of Telangana, and had come to the US for her higher studies.

Reports indicate that Sowmya was hit by a speeding car while crossing the road in Florida, resulting in her untimely demise. She had recently completed her Master’s degree from Florida Atlantic University and was in the process of job hunting.

Family Seeks Indian Government’s Assistance

The tragic incident has left Sowmya’s family in India devastated. Her parents, Koteswara Rao and Balamani, alongside other relatives, have reached out to the Government of India for help in repatriating her body back to her homeland. The family shared that Sowmya had celebrated her 25th birthday on May 11.

Earlier this month, three Indian students lost their lives in a horrific car crash in Alpharetta, Georgia. The accident took place on May 20 on Westside Parkway, north of Maxwell Road, where two other students sustained critical injuries. The deceased were identified as Aryan Joshi, Sriya Avasarala, and Anvi Sharma, all aged approximately 18 years.

In a separate incident, an Indian student named Shri Belem Atchyuth, from Andhra Pradesh, met with a fatal bike accident in New York. Atchyuth, a student at The State University of New York (SUNY), tragically lost his life. The Consulate General of India in the US expressed condolences and assured the family of all necessary support to bring Atchyuth’s remains back to India.
