Two Brevard County men have been arrested and charged with attempted murder in the road-rage shooting of an SUV carrying a couple and three young children Saturday in the Mims area, according to a social media post by the Volusia Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred on State Road 46, with the victims miraculously escaping unharmed despite their vehicle being struck multiple times. Chad Morrow, 45, of Cocoa, and Chad McAninch, 52, of Port St. John, were apprehended by Brevard County sheriff’s deputies after a felony traffic stop. The suspects face charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the incident.

Two Brevard County Men Arrested for Attempted Murder in Road-Rage Shooting

Two men from Brevard County have been taken into custody and charged with attempted murder following a road-rage incident that took place in the Mims area on Saturday. The shooting occurred on State Road 46, near the Kennedy Space Center and Titusville.

The victims, a couple with three young children aged 6, 4, and 18 months, were travelling east on State Road 46 when they were confronted by a black Dodge pickup. The truck began tailgating them before passing them, forcing them off the road, and coming to a sudden stop in front of their vehicle.

Two men then emerged from the truck and proceeded to fire several shots at the victims’ GMC Yukon, hitting the vehicle multiple times. Despite the vehicle sustaining nine bullet holes and a shattered front passenger window, miraculously, no one was injured in the incident.

Independent witnesses who were present at the scene confirmed the events to detectives. Following the shooting, the two perpetrators got back into their truck and fled the scene. The victims immediately called 911 and began following the truck at a safe distance as it headed into Brevard County.

The suspects, identified as Chad Morrow, 45, of Cocoa, and Chad McAninch, 52, of Port St. John, were apprehended by Brevard County sheriff’s deputies following a felony traffic stop. They have each been charged with two counts of attempted murder and three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Sheriff Mike Chitwood expressed his gratitude to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in apprehending the suspects, highlighting the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies in such cases.
