A Kerala court has sentenced three individuals, including a mother and her son, to death for the murder of their 71-year-old neighbor in Thiruvananthapuram in 2022. The accused were also found to be involved in another murder case of a teenager. The Neyyattinkara Additional Sessions Court convicted Rafeeka Beevi, Al Ameen, and Shafeeq for killing Shanthakumari to steal her gold ornaments. The crime was discovered when blood was seen dripping from the loft of Beevi’s house. The trio confessed to the murder and were apprehended in Kazhakoottam. Investigations revealed their involvement in the previous murder case. This incident occurred in January 2022 and the verdict was delivered recently.

The Gruesome Murder in Thiruvananthapuram
In a shocking turn of events, a Kerala court has handed down a death sentence to three individuals involved in a horrific murder case that took place near Vizhinjam in Thiruvananthapuram in 2022. The accused, including a mother and her son, were found guilty of brutally killing their 71-year-old neighbour, Shanthakumari, in order to steal her precious gold ornaments.
Repeat Offenders on Trial
It has come to light that the three convicted individuals, Rafeeka Beevi (52), her friend Al Ameen (28), and her son Shafeeq (25), are no strangers to criminal activities. In fact, they are currently embroiled in another murder case involving the death of a teenager. The Neyyattinkara Additional Sessions Court wasted no time in delivering a verdict, sentencing the trio to death for their heinous crime.
The Discovery of a Gruesome Crime
The chilling details of the murder came to light on January 14, 2022, when a group of individuals conducting a study session on the rooftop of Rafeeka Beevi’s house noticed blood seeping through the floor from the loft. Upon further investigation, they uncovered the lifeless body of Shanthakumari hidden in the loft. The authorities were immediately alerted to the scene of the crime.
Swift Justice and Confessions
The perpetrators, who had been on the run, were apprehended in Kazhakoottam and taken into custody. During interrogation, they admitted to the gruesome murder of their elderly neighbour and confessed to stealing her valuable ornaments. What is even more disturbing is the revelation that the trio had also been involved in the murder of a 14-year-old girl in Kovalam. The legal proceedings for this separate case are still ongoing.
As the court handed down the death sentence to the three accused, justice was served for the victims of these senseless acts of violence. The community in Thiruvananthapuram can now find solace in knowing that these dangerous individuals will face the consequences of their actions.
