The father of a 17-year-old boy, whose speeding luxury car killed two software engineers in Pune, was arrested on Tuesday evening. The Porsche, allegedly driven by the drunk teenager, fatally knocked down two motorbike-borne engineers in Kalyani Nagar. The father, a well-known real estate developer, was arrested in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and brought to Pune. Another suspect, Jayesh Bonkar, from Hotel Blak Club was also arrested. Three others were arrested earlier for serving liquor to the underage boy. The deceased were identified as Anish Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta. The father was charged under the Juvenile Justice Act and IPC for neglecting his son’s safety.

The Incident in Kalyani Nagar, Pune

The tragic incident took place in the bustling area of Kalyani Nagar in Pune, a city known for its vibrant culture and thriving IT industry. Located in the heart of the city, Kalyani Nagar is a popular residential and commercial hub, dotted with restaurants, cafes, and shopping centres.

On a fateful Sunday morning, two young software engineers, Anish Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta, were riding their motorbike in Kalyani Nagar when they were struck by a speeding Porsche. The luxury car, allegedly driven by a 17-year-old boy under the influence of alcohol, tragically ended the lives of the two IT professionals from Madhya Pradesh who were working in Pune.

Arrest of the Father

The father of the teenage boy, a prominent real estate developer in Pune, was taken into custody by the police from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, a town located 250km away from Pune. The authorities acted swiftly, apprehending the father for his alleged role in the accident that claimed the lives of Anish and Ashwini.

Legal Action Against the Culprits

In a bid to ensure justice for the victims, the police also arrested Jayesh Bonkar, a staff member at Hotel Blak Club, where the underage boy was served liquor. Additionally, three others, including restaurant owners and managers, were detained for supplying alcohol to the teenager without verifying his age. The accused individuals were brought before the court and remanded in police custody.


Charges Against the Father

The father of the young driver is facing charges under sections 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act, along with relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code. The authorities have highlighted the father’s alleged negligence in entrusting his son with a vehicle despite knowing that he did not possess a valid driving license. Moreover, it has been alleged that the father allowed his underage son to consume alcohol, leading to the tragic accident in Kalyani Nagar.
