### Gruesome Murder Unveiled
Deputy State’s Attorney Melissa Hockensmith, who prosecuted the case, described the murder as particularly gruesome, leading her to request a life sentence without parole for Ravi Pansuriya. During the sentencing, Ravi Pansuriya chose not to address the Court.
### Details of the Crime Scene
The chilling facts surrounding the case revealed that on October 2, 2022, a young man traveling along Medford Road outside of New Windsor stumbled upon a dismembered body lying partially in the roadway. The body was later identified as that of Dr. Maganbhai Pansuriya. Three days later, Carroll County Sheriff’s detectives found the head and hands of Dr. Pansuriya in Morgan Run off of Old Washington Rd.
Dr. Pansuriya’s wife had reported him missing earlier on the same evening, coming home from work to find blood in various places in the garage and signs of a struggle in the bathroom. Her son Ravi, driving the family truck, returned home shortly thereafter. Investigators discovered blood and human tissue in the bed of the truck, as well as on various tools in the garage, including hedge trimmers, branch cutters, an axe, a pickaxe, a baseball bat, and a rake. Several knives were also seized. Ravi Pansuriya’s pants contained the blood and DNA of Dr. Pansuriya, and he was captured on video purchasing a wooden-handled axe on the morning of the incident. The body was found partially wrapped in linens and a rug from the family home, duct-taped around with Ravi Pansuriya’s fingerprint found on the adhesive side of the tape. Dr. Stephanie Dean, the Interim Chief Medical Examiner for the State of Maryland, testified that Maganbhai Pansuriya had suffered 45 stab wounds, 9 cutting wounds, and blunt force injuries to the head, ultimately leading to his death.

### State’s Attorney’s Response
Carroll County State’s Attorney Haven Shoemaker expressed that such exceptionally horrific and brutal murders are rare in Carroll County, especially when committed by a son against his father. He hoped that the sentence would bring some solace to the family and friends of Dr. Pansuriya during this traumatic time.
