The two police officers, who were on a routine patrol along Kitusuru Road, spotted a suspected notorious thug riding a motorcycle. They followed the motorbike to Waiyaki Way and intercepted it at the Red Hill area. While questioning the suspect, three military officers from Kabete Barracks intervened, attempting to rescue the suspect despite the police officers identifying themselves.

Violent Confrontation

According to a police report filed at the Springs Valley Police Station, a scuffle ensued, resulting in one police officer, Mr. Momanyi, being assaulted and sustaining injuries to his right leg. He was rushed to South B Hospital for treatment. More military officers arrived at the scene and took the motorcycle rider to Kabete Barracks.

Response from Authorities

Upon the arrival of their superiors, the police officers decided to leave the scene to avoid further confrontation. The following day, the military officers brought Mr. Momanyi to the Spring Valley Police Station without the motorcycle. However, the police managed to retrieve the motorbike from Kabete Barracks.

Nairobi County police boss, Mr. Adamson Bungei, has been vocal about the need for vigilance among police officers, especially in cases involving motorcycle riders engaged in criminal activities.
