Police Investigation Reveals Startling Details
The investigation first began when the Crystal Lake Police Department initiated a missing person case on April 4. This led law enforcement officials to two separate locations within Kane County, where they made a startling discovery. The Kane County Investigations Division played a crucial role in executing search warrants at the 45W200-block of Illinois Route 72 in Hampshire Township and the 600-block of North Falls Circle in Pingree Grove on May 7.
Human Remains Found in Hampshire Township
During the search, authorities made a grim discovery at the Hampshire Township location. The human remains found were identified as those of the missing 57-year-old Crystal Lake resident, James Cromwell. The Kane County Coroner’s Office revealed that Cromwell had tragically died from a gunshot wound, confirming his death as a homicide.
