The Tragic Incident on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan’s Dausa
A devastating mishap shook the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan’s Dausa district, where a family from Ahmedabad met with a horrific accident while en route to Haridwar to perform the final rites of a loved one. The incident occurred early Sunday morning, leaving a couple and their young son dead, while five other family members sustained severe injuries.
The family, accompanied by five other relatives, was on their way to immerse the ashes of their deceased loved one when tragedy struck near Unbada village in the Bandikui police station area. The vehicle lost control after colliding with a stray bull on the highway, leading to a fatal collision with a speeding truck, claiming the lives of Hansmukh (32), Seema (30), and their 5-year-old son Mohan.
Among the injured were Neelam (27), daughter Kantilal, Geeta (35), wife of Rakesh Kumar Parmar, Hansmukh’s 3-year-old son, Geeta’s daughter Kavia, and Virit Bhai (48), son of Jethabhai. Hailing from Ahmedabad, the injured were promptly rushed to the nearest hospital for medical treatment.
Response and Investigation by Authorities
Bandikui police station in-charge Surendra Malik revealed that the families of the deceased had been notified about the tragic accident. Post-mortem examinations of the deceased were scheduled upon the arrival of relatives, with plans to hand over the bodies for funeral rites. Meanwhile, medical treatment for the injured victims was underway, with authorities intensively scanning CCTV footage to identify the truck involved in the collision.
The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, the longest in the country, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February 2023. Despite claims of robust security measures by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the expressway has witnessed a series of unfortunate accidents, raising concerns about safety standards and enforcement.
