A man was arrested in Harris County, Texas after a violent crime spree that included the killing of his ex-girlfriend and a shootout with a deputy. HARRIS COUNTY Man Arrested After Violent Crime Spree Leads to Massive Manhunt

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — A man has been apprehended following a series of violent incidents that triggered a widespread manhunt. The suspect is accused of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend and exchanging gunfire with a deputy.

The chain of events began in the early hours of Tuesday morning at a gas station near the Texas Medical Center on Almeda Road at North MacGregor Drive. A bystander recorded a harrowing video of the altercation on a cellphone.

Authorities reported that the suspect, now identified as 46-year-old Tilford Anthony Joseph, engaged in a heated argument with his ex-girlfriend at the gas station. The situation escalated into violence when he allegedly brandished a firearm and fired at her multiple times.

A Precinct 7 constable deputy from Harris County happened to be in the vicinity and responded to the scene, leading to a confrontation with Joseph in the middle of the street.

Despite the initial exchange of gunfire, Joseph managed to commandeer the deputy’s vehicle and flee the area, according to Houston Police Department (HPD).

After a brief departure, Joseph returned to the scene for another confrontation with the deputy, before ultimately escaping in his own vehicle, as per law enforcement officials.

Although the authorities located the Camaro that the suspect drove away in, Joseph was nowhere to be found at the time.

Fortunately, the deputy sustained only minor injuries during the incident.

By early evening on Wednesday, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez announced on social media that the HCSO SWAT team was engaged in a standoff at an apartment complex on Westborough Drive, close to North Fry Road and Saums Road in Katy.

The individual at the center of the standoff was confirmed to be Joseph, with Gonzalez revealing that an investigation into the earlier shootout had led them to the apartment complex.

Following a tense standoff lasting nearly three hours, Joseph was taken into custody without any further incidents.

He now faces charges of murder and aggravated assault against a public servant.

The victim, identified by family members as 44-year-old Teresa Houston, was employed at Shadow Creek High School, according to Alvin ISD. Relatives disclosed that Houston had separated from Joseph after he was charged with assaulting her. Court records indicate that he pleaded guilty and received six months of probation.
