Arrest Made Within 30 Hours of Fatal Shooting Near Lake Merritt in Oakland

An arrest has been made in connection with a tragic incident that occurred near Lake Merritt in Oakland, where a 61-year-old man was fatally shot while driving his minivan. The victim, identified as Michael Seymour, was shot just before noon on a Sunday morning near the county courthouse, and he tragically succumbed to his injuries after driving on for another half mile before crashing his vehicle in a motel parking lot.

Suspect with History of Violence

The suspect in this case has been identified as 43-year-old Justin Jenkins, who has a known history of violence. Oakland police have stated that the shooting was unprovoked, and it remains unclear if Seymour and Jenkins had any prior connection.
