Man Arrested in Fatal Crash in East Longmont

A Longmont man was taken into custody following a tragic incident that occurred early Saturday morning in East Longmont. Nestor Omar Arellano-Almazan, 30, has been charged with vehicular homicide – under the influence, DUI, and failure to notify police of an accident. The victim in this heartbreaking case has been identified as 39-year-old Joshua Larrin, a resident of Longmont.

Details of the Incident

The Weld County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the victim’s identity, but Longmont Public Safety spokesperson Robin Ericson has confirmed that Arellano-Almazan and Larrin were involved in the fatal crash. The incident took place at 12:46 a.m. on Saturday, just east of East County Line Road. According to reports, Larrin was riding a stolen motorcycle on Ken Pratt Boulevard when he was struck by Arellano-Almazan, who was turning his pickup truck onto Timm Way.

Tragic Outcome

Unfortunately, Larrin did not survive the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene. Arellano-Almazan was promptly arrested and taken to Weld County Jail. Authorities suspect that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. The motorcycle involved in the incident was reported stolen from Longmont.

Legal Proceedings

The Weld County Sheriff’s Office is withholding any further information about the case until formal charges are filed against Arellano-Almazan on May 15.
