Details of the Tragic Shooting Incident in Guildford

In a tragic turn of events that shook the community of Guildford, two men, Toufik and Salim Hamze, were shot and killed in a horrifying incident that took place on Wednesday 20 October 2021. The incident occurred on Osgood Street near Woodville Road, where emergency services responded to reports of a shooting just before 9am.

Response and Investigation

Upon their arrival at the scene, officers from Cumberland Police Area Command found the two victims inside a vehicle, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of NSW Ambulance paramedics, the younger man tragically passed away at the scene, while the older man was rushed to Westmead Hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. The victims were later identified as father and son, Toufik and Salim Hamze.

The State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad established Strike Force Ormerod to investigate the murders, leading to the arrest and charging of four men aged between 18 and 25 in connection with the incident.

Arrests and Warrants Issued

After further extensive inquiries and a public appeal for information, homicide detectives executed search warrants in Austral and Riverstone. A 28-year-old man was arrested at the Austral address and charged with two counts of murder, among other charges. Another 29-year-old man, who was already in custody at a correctional centre, was also charged with two counts of murder and related offenses.

Additionally, arrest warrants were issued for three men believed to be offshore: Rafat Alameddine, John Ray Bayssari, and Zaid Abdelhafez. These individuals are wanted on outstanding warrants for two counts of murder and are currently being sought by authorities.
