Tragic Double Homicide in St. Louis County

A 19-year-old resident of Florissant, Missouri, took a ride-share to a home in Midland, about 18 miles west of St. Louis, where two siblings were shot and killed in a tragic incident, according to the St. Louis County Police Department.

Suspect Charged with Second-Degree Murder

Lamarr Harris has been charged with one count of second-degree murder and one count of armed criminal action in the deaths of Marc Rhodes, 19, and Lanija Cooper, 20. The suspect is currently being held on a $750,000 cash-only bond, with additional charges pending.

Details of the Incident

Police responded to a call at the residence in Midland on a Sunday morning. Upon arrival, they discovered the bodies of a man and a woman, later identified as brother and sister, who had been shot to death. The brother was found near the residence, while the sister was located a short distance away.

According to prosecutors, Harris, who had a previous romantic relationship with Cooper, believed she was responsible for slashing his new girlfriend’s car tires. This led him to take a Lyft to the victim’s house, where an altercation with Rhodes ensued. Harris allegedly shot and killed Rhodes after being punched in the face.
