Speed check from recent operation

Previous police operations in February and March in Dewsbury, Mirfield, Batley, and Spen led to the recovery of 20 vehicles and the arrest of drivers for various offences including drink/drug driving, vehicle theft, and dangerous driving. These operations focused on addressing the ‘Fatal 5’ driver behaviours known to cause serious and fatal collisions, such as speeding, lack of seatbelt use, drink and drug driving, mobile phone use, and careless driving.

West Yorkshire Police’s commitment to Vision Zero, a road safety initiative aimed at eliminating traffic fatalities and severe injuries while promoting safe and equitable mobility, remains steadfast.

Inspector Liz Lockwood of the Dewsbury and Mirfield NPT expressed gratitude to Kirklees councillors for their support and emphasized the importance of road safety. She highlighted the need for continued vigilance and enforcement to ensure the safety of all road users in the area.

Residents concerned about dangerous driving in their area are encouraged to report incidents to local councillors via Operation Trimburg or directly to the Dewsbury and Mirfield NPT. Contact can be made through the non-emergency police number 101 or online via the West Yorkshire Police website.
