East Moline Police Officers swiftly responded to a report of shots fired and found the victim, Michael J. Robinson, lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite their best efforts to provide life-saving measures, Robinson was unresponsive and had to be rushed to Genesis Illini Hospital. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after his arrival at the hospital.
Suspect Identified and Arrested
Following an immediate investigation by the East Moline Investigations Division, a suspect was identified as Jarquez D. Robertson, a 21-year-old man from Huntsville, Alabama. It was believed that Robertson fled the scene and was possibly heading back to Alabama in a vehicle. An arrest warrant was swiftly issued for Robertson on charges of First Degree Murder with no bond.
A nationwide alert was issued to apprehend the suspect, with the Huntsville Police Department successfully locating and arresting Robertson without incident. He is currently detained at the Madison County Jail in Alabama, awaiting extradition back to the Rock Island County Jail in Illinois to face the charges against him.
