Three individuals are currently in garda custody in Dublin following what is believed to be the first gangland murder of the year. The Justice Minister has strongly condemned the shooting in Drimnagh, labeling it as “completely unacceptable.” The 20-year-old victim has been identified as Josh Itseli, who tragically lost his life after being shot multiple times on Knocknarea Road. The incident also involved crashed vehicles and a suspected pipe bomb, which had to be dealt with by the Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal team. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and any dashcam footage of the area during the time of the shooting. An incident room has been set up at Sundrive Road Garda Station for further investigations.

The Justice Minister has strongly condemned the shooting, labeling it as “completely unacceptable.” The victim of the gun attack has been identified as 20-year-old Josh Itseli, who tragically lost his life in the early hours of Monday morning after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.
The shooting occurred on Knocknarea Road in Drimnagh, where chaos ensued as a Mercedes Benz and a Volkswagen Golf were found crashed, with several other vehicles damaged in the process. Additionally, a silver Ford Focus located nearby has been singled out as a vehicle of interest in the ongoing investigation.
Amidst the chaos, gardaí discovered a suspected pipe bomb at Knocknarea Court, requiring the intervention of the Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal team to safely deactivate the device. Following the incident, armed officers swiftly apprehended two men and a teenage boy who are currently in Garda custody.
Superintendent Paul Maher has urged the public to come forward with any dashcam footage of the area around the time of the shooting to aid in the investigation. He specifically mentioned the following areas where footage would be beneficial: Cooley Road, Brandon Road, Errigal Gardens, Crumlin Road, Slievenamon Road, Mourne Road, and associated side roads.
