On Saturday night, tragedy struck in the 400 block of East 13th Avenue in Columbus, Ohio, when the Columbus Division of Police received reports of a shooting at around 8:38 p.m.

The incident resulted in the death of Jerry Harper Jr., a 54-year-old man from Columbus, and left Derek Miller, a 42-year-old man, injured.

The Scene of the Crime

Upon arriving at 430 E. 13th Ave., officers found Miller lying outside with two gunshot wounds. Two other individuals were present at the scene, with one claiming that Harper had shot Miller before fleeing.

Harper was later located at a nearby location with a gunshot wound to the jaw. A firearm in his vehicle was found with blood on it, indicating his involvement in the incident.
