A tragic incident unfolded in Long Beach, California, last month when a 17-year-old home invasion suspect was fatally shot by police. The suspect, identified as Brandon Ramon Salgado of San Bernardino, lost his life during a confrontation with law enforcement on the night of April 26.

The incident took place on the 6800 block of Cerritos Avenue in Long Beach. Police received a report of a person with a gun at a residence, which turned out to be a home invasion robbery in progress. Upon arrival, officers discovered the suspect still on the property, armed with what appeared to be a firearm.

Law enforcement officers engaged in a dialogue with the teen for over an hour in an attempt to de-escalate the situation. A SWAT team was called in, preparing to intervene, when the suspect was ultimately shot by police. The exact circumstances that led to the shooting remain unclear.

Following the shooting, Long Beach Fire Department paramedics provided treatment to the suspect at the scene before transporting him to a nearby hospital.
