The shocking incident took place on April 13, 2024, at approximately 10:30 p.m., when Blue Springs police officers responded to reports of a shooting at Wilbur Young Park. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered two victims identified as LaDronal Hamilton Jr., a 19-year-old from Kansas City, Missouri, and Karmello Matlock, a 20-year-old from Blue Springs, Missouri.
One of the victims was found in the park’s parking lot near the volleyball courts, while the second victim was located near a basketball court in close proximity. Eyewitnesses recounted to the authorities that what began as a simple fist fight quickly escalated into a violent shooting incident.
