The Fabricated Audio Clip
The incident occurred in January when a viral audio clip surfaced of Pikesville high school principal Eric Eiswert allegedly making racist and antisemitic remarks. The clip quickly spread, triggering outrage and prompting Eiswert to be placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.
The school administrators were inundated with angry calls and threats of violence in response to the audio clip. One particularly disturbing message left for Eiswert suggested that the world would be better off without him, according to a police report.
Eiswert vehemently denied that the voice in the recording was his, attributing it to a deepfake. His suspicions were confirmed when experts revealed that AI technology can create convincing fake audio and video with just a few pieces of data.
The Perpetrator
