A Dunlap High School senior tragically lost her life in a devastating accident that occurred late Saturday night near the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex in northwest Peoria. Nevaeh Mitchell, an 18-year-old from Princeville, was involved in a head-on collision on North Orange Prairie Road, which claimed her life.
The Heartbreaking Incident
The fatal crash took place in the 8400 block of North Orange Prairie Road, where Mitchell’s vehicle collided with another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. The Peoria County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Mitchell was driving northbound when the collision occurred in the northbound lanes.

Law enforcement authorities received a distress call at 11:39 p.m., prompting the immediate dispatch of Peoria police, fire departments, and emergency medical services to the scene. Tragically, Mitchell was pronounced dead at 12:27 a.m. on Sunday.
