Approximately thirty minutes later, the semi-truck was intercepted, and the driver was identified as Michael Aaron Jayne. Initially, Jayne managed to escape the scene but then reversed his direction and intentionally struck a Santaquin Police officer, resulting in the officer’s tragic death. He also collided with the officer’s patrol car and a vehicle belonging to a UHP trooper before fleeing on foot and hijacking several vehicles. Jayne was eventually apprehended in Vernal.
