The Edo State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corp, FRSC, has reported the arrest of a motorist named Lucky Omomeyen for allegedly attempting to hit one of its officers after being apprehended for violating traffic rules. The incident took place in Benin City, the capital of Edo State, Nigeria.

State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Paul Okpe, revealed that the driver, operating a Toyota Camry car, was flagged down by patrol officers on April 19, 2024. Instead of stopping as instructed, the driver made a reckless attempt to hit the officer with his vehicle.

Okpe explained that in order to avoid being struck, the quick-thinking officer had to jump and cling onto the back of the Toyota Camry. The officer was on duty at Ramat Park when the incident occurred, simply carrying out routine responsibilities.

Despite the officer’s efforts to hang on to the car, the driver managed to manoeuvre his vehicle and escape arrest initially. However, after a thorough search, the driver was eventually apprehended several days later.
