A tragic incident unfolded in Oswego, N.Y. as the body of a missing man was discovered in Oswego Harbor this week. Kenneth J. Gardner, who had been reported missing by his family on April 16, was identified by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office. The Oswego Police Department issued a news release confirming the devastating news.
Discovery of the Body
Gardner’s body was found early Friday morning along the eastern shore of the harbor near the Port Authority. Oswego police and firefighters immediately responded to the scene, where the body was retrieved and transported to Onondaga County for further examination and identification.
Search Efforts
Prior to this tragic discovery, police and firefighters had been conducting extensive searches of the city’s waterways in hopes of finding Gardner. On April 14, a search was conducted in the Oswego River, north of Bridge Street, but yielded no results. However, authorities now believe that the body reported in the river was likely that of Gardner.
