The fatal incident occurred on the west side of Tallahassee, near West Pensacola Street, around 6:40 p.m. Sims was walking in a crosswalk when she was struck by a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Willis Trueblood Jr.
Arrest and Investigation
Trueblood fled the scene of the accident but was apprehended by authorities less than two hours later. Witnesses reported seeing the damaged vehicle with blood and hair on the windshield, leading to Trueblood’s arrest for leaving the scene of a fatal hit-and-run.
