Four young children were injured, two seriously, in a suspected DUI collision in Cupertino over the weekend. The crash occurred near Foothill and Stevens Creek boulevards on Saturday evening. The driver of a silver Mazda pickup truck collided with another vehicle and a power pole, also hitting the children on the sidewalk. Two of the children sustained serious injuries and were rushed to area hospitals. One child remains in critical condition. The 38-year-old Cupertino man driving the Mazda was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs causing bodily harm. The Tragic DUI Collision in Cupertino Leaves Four Young Children Injured

Over the weekend in Cupertino, a horrific incident unfolded that left four young children injured, two of them seriously. The collision, suspected to be caused by a DUI driver, occurred near Foothill and Stevens Creek boulevards around 6:15 p.m. on Saturday.

The driver of a silver Mazda pickup truck collided with another vehicle and ultimately crashed into a power pole. Tragically, four children, aged 11, 8, 7, and 4, who were innocently playing on the sidewalk at the time, were also struck by the out-of-control vehicle.

Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Brooks Jarosz described the scene as “horrific” and emphasized that this devastating incident could have been prevented. Two of the children sustained serious injuries and required life-saving measures from emergency medical personnel before being rushed to nearby hospitals.

Suspected DUI Driver Arrested

The driver of the Mazda, a 38-year-old man from Cupertino, was promptly arrested and booked into county jail on charges of driving under the influence of drugs causing serious bodily injury. The authorities are taking this matter very seriously and are conducting a thorough investigation into the collision with the assistance of the Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Specialists team.
