Tragic Incident: NEET Aspirant Commits Suicide in Kota Hostel
A tragic incident occurred in Kota, Rajasthan, where a 20-year-old student, identified as Sumit from Rohtak, Haryana, took his own life inside his hostel room. Sumit was preparing for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) examination and had been residing in the hostel located in Kota’s Kunhadi Landmark City for the past year.
Discovery of the Tragedy
On Sunday evening, Sumit’s family grew concerned after repeated attempts to contact him went unanswered. The family contacted the hostel warden, who, after knocking on Sumit’s door to no response, alerted the police. A team immediately reached the hostel, where they discovered Sumit’s lifeless body hanging from a noose inside his room.
Investigation Underway
Sumit’s body has been taken to a hospital mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted once his family arrives in Kota. The police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to Sumit taking such a drastic step.
Previous Incidents in Kota
This unfortunate incident marks the ninth suicide in Kota this year, further highlighting the mental health challenges faced by students in the “coaching hub” of India. Just over a month ago, a 19-year-old NEET aspirant, Soumya from Lucknow, was found dead in her hostel room in Kota. Prior to that, Uruz Khan, also a NEET student, was discovered hanging from the ceiling fan in his rented room on March 25.
