On a quiet Saturday morning in Goldsboro, officers from the Goldsboro Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter alert at Kim’s Beauty Supply on East Ash Street. The call came in at approximately 9:10 am, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered Kristopher Marquise Faison, a 26-year-old Goldsboro resident, in the parking lot with a gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel rushed Faison to UNC Health Wayne, but unfortunately, he was pronounced deceased upon arrival at the hospital.
The Goldsboro Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau and Crime Scene Unit were quickly summoned to the location to begin their investigation. As the authorities combed through the evidence and gathered information, a suspect emerged in connection to the crime.
Hakeem Khalib Coley, a 20-year-old Goldsboro resident, was identified as the prime suspect in Faison’s murder. Thanks to the diligent work of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office ACE Team, Coley was apprehended without incident in the 800 block of Olivia Lane later that evening, around 7:19 pm on the same day.
Authorities wasted no time in serving Coley with a warrant for First Degree Murder. He was taken into custody and brought to the Wayne County Magistrate’s Office, where he was then transferred to the Wayne County Detention Center. Coley remains behind bars with no bond set, pending his first appearance in court on Monday.
