A man was taken into custody in West Valley City on Friday for the brutal killing of his father, as reported by West Valley City Police.
The Incident
Jeremy Ross Pulver, aged 46, was apprehended in Salt Lake County on a charge of first-degree murder. The incident took place around 11 a.m. on April 26 when police received a call from a witness regarding Jeremy Pulver allegedly murdering his father, John Pulver, at John’s residence.
The witness reported that Jeremy fled the scene after the gruesome act, prompting the witness to contact the authorities. Upon arriving at the location, the witness informed the police that Jeremy had beaten John to death and even went as far as filling his mouth with baking soda to ensure he was deceased.
Investigation and Arrest
Upon investigating the scene, law enforcement found John deceased with severe head trauma. Jeremy was located shortly after and was taken in for questioning at the West Valley City Police Department.
During his interrogation, Jeremy confessed to visiting his father’s house two days prior and claimed that John expressed a desire to die due to his advanced age. Jeremy alleged that John requested him to end his life, and Jeremy, in turn, admitted that he wanted his father dead.
Jeremy recounted how he gathered the courage to carry out the gruesome act, using a hatchet to strike John in the head multiple times. He also disclosed that he placed baking soda in John’s mouth to confirm his demise, a method he had learned of.

Following the arrest, Clearfield Police launched an investigation into another incident involving Jeremy, where he allegedly brandished a firearm at a member of the public during an altercation the day prior.
