Man Charged with Second-Degree Murder in Connection with Oxbow Woman’s Death

A 24-year-old man from Oxbow, Saskatchewan, has been charged with second-degree murder in relation to the death of a 28-year-old woman, Brianna Hayes, also from Oxbow. The tragic incident unfolded when police first received a report of a potential homicide on April 24. This led to a search of the landfill in Oxbow, although no human remains were discovered at that location. It wasn’t until around noon on Thursday that Hayes’ body was found in a rural area in the Rural Municipality of Moose Mountain.

In addition to the primary suspect, a 27-year-old man from Gainsborough, Saskatchewan, has also been charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder. Despite these arrests, the RCMP assured the public that there is no further threat to public safety. However, they cautioned that there may be an increased police presence in areas such as the White Bear First Nation, RM of Moose Mountain, and Oxbow as the investigation progresses.
