An Orland Park man has been ordered detained following his arrest in connection with a shooting in Oak Forest that resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries. Omar Zegar, 37, faces charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after allegedly firing more than 20 shots outside a home on Babette Court. The incident led to the death of 39-year-old Mohannad Othman and injuries to a 12-year-old girl and a 19-year-old woman. Zegar, who had a pending domestic battery case, was apprehended by police shortly after the shooting. The investigation is ongoing, with Zegar scheduled to appear in court on May 17.

Additionally, a 12-year-old girl and a 19-year-old woman were also injured during the incident. The 12-year-old girl was shot while standing in a nearby driveway, and the 19-year-old woman sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.

Omar Zegar was apprehended by the police after the shooting incident and is facing charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. Court filings revealed that Zegar had a pending domestic battery case involving the wife of his three children, although she was not present at the scene of the shooting.

Authorities responded to the Oak Forest address following reports of shots fired just after 5 p.m. on Sunday. Upon arrival at the scene, it was discovered that a vehicle may have been involved in the shooting. The vehicle was later stopped by the police, leading to Zegar’s arrest.
