Arrest Made in Connection to Human Remains Found in Ouachita River
In a recent development in Catahoula Parish, Louisiana, the Catahoula Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested Anthony Pierce Holland, Jr., 29, of West Monroe in connection to the human remains discovered in the Ouachita River back in January 2024. These remains were later identified as those of missing 19-year-old Sheryl Turner from New Iberia.
Turner had gone missing in December 2023, leaving her family distraught and worried. According to her family, she had mentioned moving to Ouachita Parish after meeting someone there. A close family friend revealed that Turner had texted him upon her arrival in West Monroe, reassuring them that she had made it safely and would be in touch soon.
Discovery of Human Remains
However, after January 2, Turner’s family received no further communication from her, prompting concerns and a search effort. On January 24, the shocking discovery of human remains in the Ouachita River in Catahoula Parish added a grim turn to the investigation. It was not until late February that the remains were confirmed to belong to Turner, bringing closure to her family but also raising questions about the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.
Arrest and Investigation

On April 23, Anthony Pierce Holland, Jr., was apprehended and charged with second-degree murder in connection to Turner’s death, shedding some light on the tragic events that led to her demise.
