An Orland Park man is facing a gun charge after a domestic shooting occurred Sunday evening in Oak Forest, Illinois. The incident took place in the 5500 block of Babette Court, where four individuals were shot in what police have described as a domestic incident. Tragically, 39-year-old Mohannad G. Othman, a resident of Oak Forest, succumbed to his injuries after being shot multiple times in the head, as confirmed by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. The other victims, a 12-year-old girl, a 19-year-old man, and a 19-year-old woman, are currently recovering from their injuries.
Suspect in Custody Identified as Omar Zegar
Shortly after fleeing the scene, the suspect was apprehended and identified as Omar Zegar, a 37-year-old resident of Orland Park. On Tuesday, Oak Forest police formally charged Zegar with one felony count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon-revoked FOID in connection with the shooting. A detention hearing for Zegar has been scheduled for April 24 at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
