San Bernardino, CA – Tragedy struck Saturday afternoon on the 15 Freeway near Baker when a Kia SUV hydroplaned in the rain and collided head-on with a black Mercedes Benz SUV, claiming the lives of three individuals.
Identified Victims
The San Bernardino County Medical Examiner has identified the victims as Alicia Ramos of Madera, her son Isaac Velasco, 13, and an 11-year-old Los Angeles boy named Derek Mateo German.
According to reports, Ramos, Isaac, and Derek were traveling on the northbound Interstate 15, south of Halloran Springs Road off-ramp, when the fatal accident occurred.
Details of the Crash
The collision occurred around 1:44 p.m. on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The Kia SUV, carrying Derek and another passenger, hydroplaned in the wet conditions and crashed head-on with the Mercedes Benz SUV driven by Alicia Ramos.
Tragically, Derek German and Isaac Velasco were pronounced dead at the scene, while Alicia Ramos succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
