During a standard screening of vehicles crossing the U.S.-Mexico border, officers encountered a 34-year-old man driving a 2021 sedan through the SENTRI lane.
Secondary Inspection Reveals Methamphetamine
Upon further examination, authorities discovered irregularities within an ice chest located in the vehicle’s trunk. Utilizing the port’s imaging system, CBP officers detected something suspicious and called in a K-9 team for assistance. The trained dogs quickly alerted to the presence of narcotics in the ice chest.

After gaining access to the vehicle, officers uncovered 25 packages of methamphetamine with a total weight of 47.13 pounds hidden within the fish-filled ice chest. The driver, whose identity remains undisclosed, was handed over to Homeland Security Investigations for further questioning. The narcotics were seized by CBP.
