Bireta, was arrested for a fatal crash in Frederick County that resulted in the death of William F. Allison Jr. of Martinsburg.

In a devastating incident that shook the small town of Rippon, a tragic accident took the life of Kathy Ruth, a 62-year-old woman from Mount Hope. Ruth was working as a flagger in a construction zone on U.S. 340 when a horrifying turn of events occurred.

It was a typical Thursday morning when Ruth was stopping traffic on the southbound side of U.S. 340. However, her routine task took a deadly turn when a reckless driver in a Lexus decided to disregard the stopped vehicles and struck Ruth with full force.

The impact of the collision was so severe that Ruth was pinned under the car, leaving witnesses in shock and disbelief. Despite their valiant efforts to lift the car and move Ruth to safety, the damage had already been done. First responders arrived at the scene promptly, but it was too late. Ruth was pronounced dead at Jefferson Medical Center, leaving the community in mourning.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Citizens Fire Company, Independent Fire Company, and Jefferson County Emergency Services Agency all responded to the scene of the tragic accident, trying to make sense of the senseless loss.

Arrest Made in Fatal Crash Involving Martinsburg Resident

Further north in Martinsburg, another heartbreaking incident unfolded when 60-year-old William F. Allison Jr. lost his life in a fatal crash in Frederick County. The main culprit behind this tragic event was identified as Kenneth J. Bireta, a 54-year-old man from Knoxville, Tennessee.

Bireta was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance, shedding light on the reckless behaviour that led to the untimely death of Allison. The Virginia State Police are still investigating the case, with additional charges pending against Bireta.

The accident occurred late at night on I-81, as Bireta lost control of his vehicle, crossed the center line, and collided with Allison’s vehicle heading in the opposite direction. The impact of the crash was fatal for Allison, who succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.

Bireta, who sustained injuries himself, was taken to Winchester Medical Center, where officers detected signs of impairment. His careless actions had dire consequences, leading to the loss of a precious life.

Shots Fired Lead to Arrest in Martinsburg

The peaceful neighbourhood of Anita Drive in Martinsburg was disrupted when officers with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department responded to a shots fired call. The incident, although fortunately resulting in no injuries, sent shockwaves through the community.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered four 9mm shell casings in the road, indicating the severity of the situation. A witness provided crucial information, describing a suspect as a black man in a green/blue SUV, adding to the mystery surrounding the incident.

Through extensive investigation and surveillance footage analysis, investigators were able to identify the suspect as Tristao Commodore, a 46-year-old man from Hagerstown, Maryland. Commodore, with a history of felony assault charges, was arrested in connection with the shots fired incident, bringing some semblance of closure to the shaken residents of Anita Drive.
