Accident – Death – Obituary News : YARDLEY, Pa. (TCD) — A tragic incident unfolded in Yardley, Pennsylvania, where a 23-year-old man, Trevor Weigel, allegedly stabbed his 19-year-old ex-girlfriend, Jaden Battista, to death following their breakup. The shocking incident took place on Friday, Feb. 16, at around 2:22 p.m. when officers from the Lower Makefield Township Police Department responded to a report of a burglary at a home on Waterford Road.
According to reports from the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, a witness reported seeing a white male with black hair entering the home through a rear window. Officer Robert Kennedy arrived at the scene and witnessed Weigel chasing Battista, tackling her to the ground, and stabbing her in the upper body. Battista was found bleeding heavily from her chest as Weigel fled on foot towards Interstate 295, stabbing himself in the neck in the process.
Sgt. Brian Holder responded to the scene, chased Weigel, and eventually subdued him with a taser. Weigel was then taken to the hospital for treatment of his self-inflicted injuries. Authorities recovered a bloody knife near the area where Weigel fled, believed to be the weapon used in the attack.
Despite Officer Kennedy’s lifesaving efforts, Battista succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. An autopsy revealed that she had been stabbed multiple times in the neck and chest, with two fatal wounds among them. District Attorney Jennifer Schorn described the incident as an unimaginable, senseless loss.
Weigel was charged with criminal homicide, burglary, possession of an instrument of crime, disorderly conduct, and harassment. He was arraigned on Sunday, Feb. 18, and denied bail. As of Feb. 19, he remained in the hospital under treatment for his injuries, with expectations of survival.
The community in Yardley has been left reeling from the tragic turn of events, as friends and loved ones mourn the loss of Jaden Battista. The district attorney’s office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, seeking to bring justice to the victim and her family.
