After being read his rights, Carvajal confessed to meeting the victim on Instagram a few days before the incident and continued messaging her until the day of the rescue. He stated that the victim had requested a ride, and he agreed to drive her from Miami to Homestead after her date. Although Carvajal suspected that the victim might be underage, he failed to confirm her age, except for asking her once, to which she falsely claimed to be 18.

Carvajal met the victim in Little Havana and transported her to the meetup location, unaware that he was actually dealing with undercover detectives. The investigation further revealed that Carvajal made no attempt to contact the victim’s parents for permission to have her in his custody. Subsequently, it was confirmed that Carvajal was not listed as a legal guardian for the victim.

During the waiting period at the meetup location, Carvajal offered the victim a “marijuana smoking device,” as noted in the affidavit.

Furthermore, Carvajal’s Instagram account was verified by the police, matching the profile the victim had been interacting with. He also acknowledged recognizing the victim’s Instagram profile and shared this information with the detectives during questioning. After his arrest, Carvajal was formally charged and transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center (TGK).
