22-Year-Old Man Charged with Murder in New Year’s Eve Crash that Killed Three in South Los Angeles
A 22-year-old man is facing charges of murder and other related offenses following a fatal crash on New Year’s Eve in South Los Angeles. The accident resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including a 5-year-old child, and left the girl’s younger sister with serious injuries.
Isaac Jordan Kahari has been charged with three counts of murder and three counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. He is also facing charges of driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage causing injury and hit-and-run driving resulting in injury to another person. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office confirmed the charges.

LAPD Detective Ryan Moreno described the crash as “extremely violent.” The collision caused the victims’ car to collide with a street sign and a fence before coming to a stop outside a nearby business. Witnesses who heard the crash compared it to an “explosion.” Several courageous bystanders rushed to the scene and offered assistance.
Loss of Lives and Injuries
The victims of the tragic crash have been identified as Jose Manuel Pascagaza, 49, his 5-year-old daughter Mia, and Luisa Bernal, 30, who was seated in the front passenger seat. Jose and Mia succumbed to their injuries at the scene and in the hospital, respectively. Luisa Bernal was initially hospitalized with severe injuries and tragically passed away last Tuesday. The family’s one-year-old daughter, Hanna, remains hospitalized but is showing signs of improvement. Her birthday is approaching this week.
A Community in Mourning
The local community has come together to mourn the loss of the Pascagaza family. Friends and neighbors have created a touching memorial near the intersection of 60th Place and Normandie Avenue, adorned with photographs, flowers, and candles.
A Plea for Help
The eldest daughter, Angie Dayana Pascagaza, has set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds for the repatriation of her parents and sister to Colombia for a Christian burial. In her plea for support, Angie shares that the family had relocated to California in November 2022, seeking a better future due to the difficult situation in their home country. The GoFundMe campaign has already garnered over $16,700 in donations.
