Arkansas Family Identified as Victims in Michigan House Explosion
NORTHFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — The Northfield Township Police Department has released the names of the victims involved in a tragic house explosion that occurred over the weekend in Michigan. The incident, which took place on Saturday, has claimed the lives of four members of an Arkansas family. Authorities have ruled out foul play and believe that the explosion was caused by flammable fuel present in the air.
The deceased have been identified as Hope Bragg, aged 51, her husband Don Bragg, aged 53, and their children, Kenneth Bragg, aged 22, and Elizabeth Bragg, aged 19. All of them hailed from Monticello, Arkansas.
Local authorities have also provided an update on the condition of other family members affected by the explosion. Richard Pruden, 72, the father of Hope Bragg, remains in critical condition, while Stephen Bragg, aged 16, is in stable condition.
The devastating explosion completely destroyed the home, which was located approximately 45 miles (72 kilometers) west of Detroit. The Bragg family had traveled to Michigan to celebrate the holiday, according to Lieutenant David Powell from the Northfield Township Police Department.
Lieutenant Powell expressed his astonishment at the extent of the damage caused by the explosion, stating, “I’ve never seen anything like it.”
Hope Bragg, one of the victims, worked as an instructor at the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, while her husband, Don Bragg, served as a research forester at the U.S. Forest Service, as mentioned on their LinkedIn profiles.
