Ocala Police Department Offers $5,000 Reward for Information Leading to Arrest of Shooting Suspect

ORLANDO, Fla — The Ocala Police Department is offering a $5,000 reward to anyone who provides information on the whereabouts of Albert Shell Jr., the suspect wanted for premeditated first-degree murder and attempted premeditated first-degree murder during the deadly Paddock Mall shooting. The department believes that Shell Jr. may have targeted his victims.

The shooting occurred on Saturday, just before 4 p.m., at the Paddock Mall in Ocala, Florida. As shoppers were busy with their Christmas purchases, chaos erupted when multiple shots were fired within the mall premises. The incident prompted an immediate response from the Ocala Police Department, who treated the situation as an active shooter scenario.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officers quickly secured the area and entered the mall to neutralize any potential threats. However, it was determined that there was no active shooter, but rather a shooting incident that resulted in the death of a male victim and the injury of a female victim. The deceased victim has been identified as 40-year-old David Nathaniel Barron.

Expressing their condolences to the families affected by this tragedy, the Ocala Police Department assured the public of their commitment to bringing the perpetrator to justice.

The shooter managed to flee the scene and is currently at large. In their investigation, the Ocala Police Department has reason to believe that the shooting was a targeted attack. Consequently, multiple agencies, including the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Ocala Fire Rescue, Marion County Fire Rescue, and the Highway Patrol, have collaborated in the search for the suspect.
