The single-engine aircraft, piloted by 45-year-old Jenny Blalock, was confirmed to have crashed on a farm near Diana Road by the Giles County Sheriff’s Department. Tragically, both Jenny Blalock and her father, 78-year-old James Blalock Jr., lost their lives in the crash. The victims had been traveling from Knoxville and were en route to Benton, Arkansas.

According to the NTSB preliminary report, a controller had informed Jenny Blalock that she was off course during the flight. She acknowledged the correction and assured the controller that she was making the necessary adjustments. However, a few minutes later, the plane began experiencing a series of rapid climbs and descents that lasted for approximately 40 minutes. Shortly after, the aircraft initiated a sudden and swift descent. In the final moments of the flight, Jenny Blalock declared an emergency, and a faint and mostly unintelligible transmission from the passenger was transmitted.

The NTSB’s investigation into the crash is still ongoing, and the exact cause of the incident has not yet been determined. The release of the preliminary findings offers some insight into the sequence of events leading up to the tragic crash, but further analysis and examination will be necessary to ascertain the exact factors that contributed to the accident.

The Giles County plane crash has left the community devastated, and the loss of Jenny Blalock and James Blalock Jr. is mourned by their family, friends, and loved ones. As the investigation continues, it is hoped that a thorough examination will provide answers and help prevent similar tragedies in the future.
