Multiple People Injured in Colorado Springs Car Accident

Car accident in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – In a shocking incident that occurred on Saturday night, several individuals were seriously injured after a driver lost control of their vehicle while performing donuts. The incident took place at a strip mall located at the intersection of South Circle and Monterey, prompting an immediate response from local authorities.

At approximately 10:15 p.m., emergency services received reports of a rollover accident, and upon arrival at the scene, they discovered a heavily damaged car and five people suffering from life-threatening injuries. The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.

According to preliminary findings, it appears that the group had gathered at the shopping center with the intention of engaging in donut maneuvers within the parking lot. All five passengers crowded into a single vehicle, while the driver began circling the area. Shockingly, the passengers ventured outside the windows, leaving themselves vulnerable to potential harm.

Tragically, the driver lost control of the car during the reckless driving act, resulting in a devastating rollover that directly impacted the individuals hanging out of the windows. CSPD spokesperson, Officer Smith, commented, “The vehicle rolled over and tragically landed on the individuals who were precariously hanging out of the windows.”

Emergency medical services promptly transported the injured passengers to nearby hospitals, where they received immediate medical attention. Meanwhile, the driver, identified as Marisol Wentling, miraculously escaped serious injuries and was subsequently apprehended by authorities on charges of reckless driving. Wentling remains in custody as of Sunday, according to jail records.

The CSPD has launched a thorough investigation into the incident, and they are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist the ongoing inquiry. Individuals can report information directly to the CSPD by calling 719-444-7000. Alternatively, anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 719-634-STOP.
