Indian National Arrested in Nepal with Newborn’s Body
KATHMANDU: A 32-year-old Indian national was apprehended in Nepal after the discovery of a deceased newborn in his possession, as confirmed by the police on Sunday.
Harishchandra Kumar Sudi, a resident of Bihar, was arrested during a security check at a temple in Sarlahi district of Madhesh province, according to the authorities.
During the inspection, law enforcement officers found the lifeless body of an infant, with the placenta still attached, inside a plastic bag that Sudi was carrying.
The police promptly launched an investigation into the matter, leading to the detention of the Indian national.
Following the arrest, the body was transferred to the Provincial Hospital in Malangawa for postmortem examination.
In an unrelated incident, another Indian national, identified as Navauddin Chaudhary, was apprehended on the outskirts of Kathmandu for being in possession of banned red sandalwood.
Chaudhary, a 22-year-old native of Bihar, was arrested during a security check on a passenger bus that arrived in Kathmandu from Delhi on Saturday. The authorities seized 580 grams of red sandalwood from his possession.
